Public Works Department

provides a wide range of maintenance and facilities services including the management of crucial infrastructure and citywide systems such as streets, traffic signal and street light systems, landscape, water, sewer, waste, recycling, and storm drain systems. The Department also provides civil engineering services for land development and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).

Duties/Responsibilities What You'll Do

As our new

Engineering Manager for Water Resources , you will:

Plan, manage, and oversee the planning, development, and management of water resources. Oversee and comply with regulatory compliance, keep abreast of legislative updates related to water and wastewater, water supply and demand analysis, water quality, water conservation/efficiency. Oversee groundwater and recycled water management, environmental compliance, and water rights administration. Represent the City in external agency meetings. Participate in the development of policies and strategies for the Public Works Department. Mentor and lead staff, and collaborate with divisions all across the internal and external departments and agencies. Develop, update/maintain Urban Water Master Plan, Water Risk Assessment, Water Use Efficiency objectives, support the needs of the department and our customers we serve. Collaborate with the CIP Engineering Team to design and construct water, sewer, and recycled water CIP projects. Provide complex and responsible support to the Director of Public Works and Deputy Director of Public Works in areas of expertise. What We're Looking For

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Experience:

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory role in a public sector agency. Licenses:

Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment. Certifications:

Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California, to be maintained throughout employment. Special Requirements Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work in a standard office setting and use office equipment, including computers. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and by phone. Finger dexterity for data entry and using office equipment. Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and reach; lift, push, and pull objects up to 40 pounds. In fieldwork, navigate varying terrain and perform light-to-medium physical tasks. Potential exposure to hazardous materials during fieldwork. May require overtime, weekends, evenings, and holiday availability. Serve as a Disaster Services Emergency Worker as needed.
