The role focuses on underwriting and growing a primary casualty book within AXIS’ U.S. Primary Casualty Division, reporting to the Senior Vice President and guiding the portfolio toward innovation and profitability. Underwrite a profitable book of Middle Market to Large Complex Primary Casualty risks, using appropriate analytical diagnostics to assess acceptability. Analyze pricing adequacy for primary General Liability with emphasis on Manufacturing and Commercial Contractors verticals. Negotiate terms and conditions in a highly complex and competitive environment with a broad range of wholesale brokers. Manage multiple tasks with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Underwrite and develop a profitable book greater than $10M GWP supporting strategic plans while maintaining a diversified mix of business for growth and profitability; including in-person meetings with brokers and clients. Develop a West Coast-focused marketing strategy aligning with wholesale broker risk appetites to meet new business goals. Attend meetings in the office and at remote locations with underwriters, staff and management. Support adjustments to long-term and short-term strategies to achieve profitability goals. Make recommendations to SVP on market strategy, product development and efficiencies. Manuscript specialized policy and endorsement language for highly complex risks. Stay up-to-date on national, state, and regional issues, industry activity and trends. Lead special underwriting projects and presentations as requested by SVP. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. CPCU, ARM, and/or ASLI designations are a plus. A minimum of 10 years of Middle Market to Large Complex Primary Casualty underwriting experience. Strong negotiation and business development abilities; established wholesale broker relationships are highly desired. Advanced technical underwriting knowledge and understanding of Primary Casualty lines, including regulatory guidelines. Executive presence with a track record of communicating, influencing, and building relationships that add value to AXIS’s business book. Work Environment & Location

Role is ideal for candidates based in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, or Denver. Hybrid work arrangement with three days per week in the office, and in-person meetings with brokers and clients as needed. Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: USD $200,000 to USD $250,000, with specific offers based on experience and location.
