Jenner & Block, a leading law firm with international reach, seeks a dynamic Communications Coordinator to support the Communications Department based in Chicago, New York, or Washington, DC. Reporting to the Communications and PR Manager, this position provides critical support to the communications team, preparing materials to boost the visibility of the firm and its lawyers with the media and in other public forums. The Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the firm\'s external and internal strategies, helping execute tactical initiatives while interfacing with lawyers and other professional staff members, and working collaboratively on the firm\'s communications priorities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This position offers significant opportunity to develop professional skills and gain exposure to strategic communications within a prestigious law firm setting. The hours are generally 8:45 am – 5:15 pm, but expected to be available as needed.
Responsibilities
Assist with media monitoring processes, producing daily media reports and tracking communications activities across the firm.
Support media relations by helping maintain press lists, draft preliminary pitch materials, and provide administrative support for interview preparations.
Develop and curate content for the firm\'s website, social media channels, and internal communications platforms, to drive engagement and raise brand awareness.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and team members to develop content calendars and support integrated communication initiatives.
Help lead the execution and coordination of external award submissions, including nominations, surveys, and other recognitions.
Assist in creating talking points for media interviews and firm-related events.
Ensure firm editorial style consistency and compliance across communications materials.
Provide support to senior team members on various communications projects, including handling project overflow.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience required, with communications, media, or marketing experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to support complex communications projects under supervision.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
Foundational understanding of communications strategies and tactical implementation.
Basic social media strategy and content development skills.
Proven ability to maintain attention to detail while working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
Willingness to learn and receive constructive feedback from senior team members.
