What you can expect Deliver backend features for Zoom Whiteboard and Tasks, own services end to end, partner with product, frontend and SRE, improve performance, security and observability, use data to resolve issues. About the team We are the Zoom Client team that builds the core experiences behind Whiteboard and Tasks. We are a pragmatic and collaborative group who value ownership, kindness, and clear communication. Our backend stack centers on Java and the Spring ecosystem, modern CI and containers, event messaging, and cloud services. We partner tightly with frontend, design, product, and SRE to deliver simple, secure, and scalable collaboration. Responsibilities Designing and building Java microservices and secure REST APIs with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring MVC. Implementing asynchronous messaging with Kafka or RabbitMQ. Deploying, operating, and troubleshooting containerized services via CI/CD in the cloud. Guiding performance tuning, monitoring, and observability for Spring-based services. Writing automated tests and maintaining high code quality through reviews and documentation. Collaborating with product and frontend to shape APIs and system contracts. What we’re looking for Bring 8 or more years of software engineering experience and a BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Build backend systems in Java with 4 or more years using Spring Boot and related Spring modules. Use Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data, and solid REST API design principles. Design databases and optimizing queries for SQL and NoSQL systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis. Implement event-driven architectures with tools like Kafka or RabbitMQ Operate CI/CD pipelines and containerized services on a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
