Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, the Aquatics Director is responsible for developing and implementing programs in aquatics for youth through senior age groups while ensuring a safe aquatic environment. With an emphasis on ensuring the highest quality service to members and guests, the Aquatics Director will work closely with other center leaders in efforts to welcome, connect, support, and engage all members and staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in pool management and operations and a history of aquatics programming experience. Must hold YMCA certifications (or Red Cross equivalence) in Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Instructor, and YMCA Swimming Instructor; Trainer level certifications preferred. Must obtain a Pool Operator certification within first 6 months of employment. Must have ability to interact with people from all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Must be able to recruit, hire, certify and supervise qualified personnel needed for programs. Certification of CPR/First Aid/AED/O2. Complete and maintain required trainings to include but not limited to: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment upon hire and annually thereafter. Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks and criminal offender registry check.
