Science Center Distribution Assistant @ Instruction Department

To assist Science Center Facilitator in the refurbishing and inventory processes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: High school graduate with post graduate hours preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Self-motivated and the ability to work independently without supervision Understanding of math/record keeping procedures Ability to follow detailed instructions Understanding of computer applications and willingness to learn emerging technologies Experience:
None Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
Inventory kits and materials after they are returned to the science center. Refurbish consumable materials and missing non-consumables. Work with volunteers and light-duty staff at the Science Center. Maintain a safe and organized Science Center. Organize and maintain the Science Center shed. Work with dirt, sand, gravel, and living materials. Have good communication skills and be able to work with others and alone. Must be able to finish projects within an outlined timeframe. Records and Reports
Keep a database of teachers who have attended staff development on the units. Invoice schools for missing materials. Other
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Manual Trades - Central Distribution Personnel.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used :
Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require frequent heavy lifting and carrying (15-50 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $22,699 Mid. $26,912 Max. $31,123 (Based on previous experience)
Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
