Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an

Association Program Manager

for our client, a nationally respected

membership-based nonprofit headquartered in Columbia, MD ! This

full-time, on-site

opportunity is ideal for a collaborative, diplomatic, and detail-oriented professional with proven experience in

association operations, governance support, and program/project management.

This is a

brand-new role

created to support the organization's continued growth. The Association Program Manager will work closely with the Executive Director (ED), staff, volunteers, and the engaged volunteer Executive Council (EC) to ensure programs, initiatives, and projects are executed with accountability, consistency, and strong communication.

Oversee daily operations and program management, ensuring follow-through, consistency, and accountability across staff, volunteers, and contractors Track and coordinate projects (events, membership services, IT builds, and national initiatives), setting clear point people and monitoring timelines, budgets, and deliverables Provide structured reports, dashboards, and updates to the Executive Director and volunteer Executive Council, ensuring visibility and transparency Partner closely with the Comptroller and National Treasurer to align budgets and spending (Finance will continue to report to the ED) Support communications and logistics for volunteer leadership, including evening and weekend council meetings and national events Improve systems, processes, and cross-team coordination to reduce missed details and stalled projects in a flat, hands-on culture QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong background in

membership-driven nonprofits, associations, or similar organizations

(alumni associations, museums, historical societies, etc.) Familiarity with

volunteer governance structures, bylaws, and board/council reporting Proven success in

program or project management

in organizations of similar size (~$10M-$20M budget, ~20 staff) Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to create concise dashboards and updates for volunteer leaders Collaborative and diplomatic leadership style that earns staff trust and works effectively within a flat, team-oriented culture Enthusiasm for

membership-based communities or interest-based organizations Flexible schedule with willingness to occasionally support evening/weekend meetings and events Local to the Maryland/DC area (relocation considered for the right candidate)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This is a direct-hire, full-time (40 hours/week) on-site position with some hybrid flexibility offering an annual salary of

up to $130K DOE , plus a robust benefits package.
