Description: Performs and supervises modality daily operations and provides leadership relative to the assigned area. This position requires 70 percent patient care and 30 percent supervisory functions. Promotes and advocates imaging services by remaining abreast of the latest changes in technology and equipment. The Lead Radiological Technologist ensures accreditations standards are maintained as well as performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of MRI equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Works closely with department Managers to ensure that the department is adequately staffed for 24/7 coverage. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program or JRCERT accredited hospital-based training program. Registered as a Radiological Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. ARRT (R). MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3-years of technical experience. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with certification in radiography. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: BLS Certified Evidence of leadership, critical problem-solving skills, prioritization, and decision-making skills. Experience in leadership of personnel. Knowledge of regulatory requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. On off-shifts and weekends the lead technologists functions as the lead for all imaging services 2. Coordinates patient flow and provides guidance to staff technologists 3. Provides patient care 4. Provides high quality images 5. Performs image file management in PACS 6. Directs daily departmental operations 7. Oversees orientation and continuing education programs for employees 8. Directs and manages personnel to include staffing schedules and annual evaluations 9. Manages supplies and contains costs 10. Promotes customer service excellence 11. Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Must be able to perform quality radiographic exams in accordance with all standards. Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing. Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work as a member of a team. Must deliver SAFE care in accordance with the Alwaysafe program.
