Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of troubleshooting/failure analysis experience with consumer electronics products and technologies. Experience with one of the following: CT, SEM + EDS, mechanical cross sectioning. Experience in project management. Preferred qualifications
Experience with manufacturing and assembly processes common to consumer electronics. Experience with root cause analysis, failure mechanism, and corrective action processes. Experience with mobile or consumer electronics manufacturing. Strong people and organizational skills. Demonstrated proficiency in at least 1 programming or scripting language. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time to US repair depots and China-based factories. About the job

As the Failure Analysis Engineer you are a key player in the complete product life cycle. You will provide insight to the design team for design risks by performing tear-downs of prototype devices. You will perform failure analysis of both development units and field returns by working with manufacturing partners and cross-functional engineering teams to identify root cause and implement corrective actions. You will also work with the product safety team to identify and resolve any product safety claims. In this role, you will evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of integrated circuits, components, sub-components and systems to determine the root cause of failure. You will set up processes to determine why failures are happening and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems. You will need to recognize customer induced damage and be comfortable analyzing all potential failure modes, including issues related to packaging/logistics, software/firmware, and mechanical or electrical issues. You will develop procedures and automation to support high volume field failure analysis.
