Job Overview: Our client, a designer and manufacturer of sustainable, low-maintenance outdoor living products, is seeking a

Senior Product Manager

to lead the Fasteners product category within the Deck & Accessories division. This role is critical for managing the full product lifecycle-from concept and design through development, testing, and market launch-while driving sales growth, margin improvement, and strategic alignment across the organization. The Sr. Product Manager serves as the subject matter expert for the product category and collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Sourcing, R&D, Marketing, Customer Service, and Technical Services teams.

Key Responsibilities: Develop a multi-generational product roadmap and business strategy for the Fasteners product category in partnership with leadership teams.

Lead cross-functional execution of the product strategy, including product development, manufacturing, logistics, quality, code compliance, applications testing, marketing, sales, customer service, demand forecasting, reporting, margin improvement, pricing, and promotions.

Manage external engineering, product design, development, testing, and technical service providers; conduct regular supplier and project reviews.

Perform regular and ad-hoc analysis of product performance, including sales trends, regional/geographic customer analysis, revenue, margin, and other financial/performance metrics.

Serve as the subject matter expert for the product category and provide insights to Sourcing, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and SIOP/Supply Chain teams.

Conduct product data audits, manage product costing, and support pricing decisions.

Develop and deliver training programs for sales teams, distributors, dealers, and contractors regarding product features, benefits, and applications.

Partner with Product Marketing to update all sales, marketing, and technical collateral, including product literature, samples, displays, presentations, installation guides/videos, technical data sheets, and AIA presentations.

Collaborate with Technical Services and Installation/Applications teams to develop and conduct product qualification, installation, and field testing.

Identify and evaluate new and emerging fastener technologies for potential product, strategic, and business fit.

Requirements Include:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

MBA preferred.

Equivalent work experience in technical/product development roles may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience: 7+ years in Product Design, Engineering, Product Management, or related functions.

Experience managing tangible products such as building materials is a plus.

ERP software experience preferred.

Skills: Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills.

Analytical and financial acumen to support product performance evaluation and margin improvement.

Excellent communication and customer orientation.

Technical engineering/design software skills preferred (e.g., SolidWorks).

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ad-hoc reporting tools.

Certifications: Not required, but relevant technical or project management certifications are a plus.

Knowledge: Product development lifecycle for mechanical and composite fasteners.

Technical product testing, quality standards, and compliance regulations.

Emerging technologies in the fastener and outdoor products industry.

Additional Information: Reports to the Sr. Director of Product Management for Deck & Accessories.

Office-based in Chicago, IL, with occasional travel to suppliers or field locations.
