JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: SAFETY MANAGER
LOCATION: Auburn Hills, MI
OBJECTIVE The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of Site Safety Professionals and ensuring jobsite compliance with federal, state, local, and CCC safety standards. This includes developing and implementing site-specific safety plans, managing customer safety requirements, supporting risk mitigation efforts, and promoting CCC's people-based safety culture. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects across various job sites. Travel may be required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead and manage CCC's field safety staff, including scheduling, vacation coverage, new hire onboarding, and staff development. Ensure thorough knowledge and enforcement of CCC's Corporate Safety Manual and Policies. Participate in project startups: develop Jobsite-Specific Safety Plans (JSSPs), orientation materials, safety board posters, and pre-task plans (PTPs). Conduct regular site visits and assessments to monitor and enforce compliance with CCC and regulatory safety standards. Serve as a resource to Field Safety Professionals, especially in complex tasks such as Confined Space Entry, Helicopter Lifts, Critical Picks, or work near/over water. Assist the Corporate Safety Director in reviewing and updating safety policies to reflect evolving industry standards and regulations. Develop and deliver training programs (e.g., leadership training, specialty topics) to CCC staff. Support incident analysis and assist with setting up post-incident protocols with local clinics and hospitals. Participate in and contribute to the Corporate Safety Committee and its initiatives. Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, DOT, and First Responders. Stay current with industry best practices and lead initiatives to educate staff accordingly. Assist with project closeout, including storage of safety documentation and reporting. Conduct Industrial Hygiene (IH) testing as needed (e.g., silica, noise monitoring). Other duties as assigned. OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 preferred Minimum of 7 years' experience in construction safety, ideally in industrial and heavy commercial environments Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced construction environment Preferred credentials: CHST, ASP, CSP, SMS, or GSP Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to develop and enforce safety programs and site-specific safety plans Analytical skills to support risk assessment and incident investigations Commitment to continuous learning and team development Professional demeanor with clients, employees, and regulatory officials Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety reporting software WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Fast-paced environment; may manage multiple projects simultaneously Outdoor work in varying weather conditions and physical environments Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, heights, vibration, and electrical hazards Frequent travel to project sites by vehicle Must maintain physical stamina for navigating construction sites and responding to jobsite needs Strict adherence to all CCC safety protocols and communication expectations
