Position Summary

The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for designing and delivering engaging fitness, wellness, and recreational activities that support the overall treatment and recovery goals of Horizon Recovery's adolescent clients. This role develops and facilitates structured group and individual wellness sessions, organizes community and weekend activities, and collaborates closely with clinical and residential staff to ensure a safe, fun, and therapeutic environment.

Work Setting: Multi-site-rotating across supportive houses and outpatient programs, with frequent community outings.

Schedule: Variable with afternoon/evening blocks; visits each house multiple times per week; rotating weekend coverage for programmed activities; seasonal/holiday event planning may include evening or weekend participation.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and facilitate an 8-week rotating wellness curriculum that complements clinical programming for all Horizon locations. Plan and facilitate wellness sessions including fitness, movement, mindfulness, and nutrition education. Provide individualized fitness plans adjusted for age, ability, and clinical recommendations. Teach clients about healthy eating habits, hydration, sleep hygiene, and the relationship between food, mood, and behavior. Lead at least two (2) evening blocks weekly to maximize youth participation after school/programming. Weekends: Plan and lead community activities at least two weekends per month on a rotating basis among houses; ensure equitable access across the quarter. Ensure contingency plans (alternate indoor activities, rain plans) are prepared and communicated 48 hours in advance when feasible. Organize seasonal and holiday wellness events that foster community and positive peer engagement. Ensure a safe environment by enforcing proper use of equipment, risk management, and emergency protocols. Document youth participation and progress in the electronic health record (EMR). Collaborate with clinical and residential staff to align activities with treatment goals. Lead seasonal and holiday wellness events that foster community and positive peer engagement. Promote a culture of health and wellness through role modeling and coaching. Qualifications

21 years of age or older Graduate of an accredited fitness or health education program. Current Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) from NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ACE, or equivalent. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. At least 1 year of experience leading fitness or recreation programs; experience with adolescents strongly preferred. Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and inclusive coaching strategies. Strong communication, facilitation, and documentation skills. Valid driver's license and insurability for community outings. Ability to pass background checks required for working with minors. Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Education, Nutrition, Psychology, or related field. Additional certifications (e.g., Yoga RYT-200, CSCS, Group Fitness). Experience with bilingual communication (e.g., Spanish/English). Benefits
