Position Overview: The Human Resources Generalist is an integral member of the Human Resources team ensuring the smooth daily operations of the Human Resources department. The Generalist is responsible for maintaining the employee life cycle as it pertains to talent acquisition, onboarding, data management, offboarding, and administrative processing. Additionally, the Generalist serves as a resource to staff, administration, and faculty on human resources policies, procedures, and practices. Primary Responsibilities: Maintain the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department ensuring exemplary customer service is provided to faculty, administration, staff, and students. Administer the full-cycle onboarding and offboarding processes by creating offer letters, coordinating with hiring managers and internal departments as needed ensuring the timely completion of internal requirements to deliver a seamless employee experience. Ensure employment action forms are filled out correctly and promptly routed for signature. Ensure all data entry of new hires, employment changes, and terminations are added to the HRIS and CRM in a timely manner to ensure data is accurate, complete, and routed to necessary departments in a timely manner. Manage job postings to ensure positions are posted promptly to Merrimack's website and corresponding job boards. Work with hiring managers to ensure searches are progressing efficiently. Monitor the HR email inbox to ensure emails are forwarded to appropriate parties and authors are responded to in a timely manner. Coordinate all aspects of background screening, including communications with background check vendor. Communicate the status of background checks to appropriate parties to ensure positive client and candidate experience. Maintain electronic personnel files, by preparing new-employee files and ensuring employment action forms and associated employment documents are electronically filed in a timely manner and ensuring all information is kept confidential. Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure onboarding plans are in place for new employees. Maintain personnel roster ensuring monthly reporting and organizational charts are updated in a timely manner. Reconcile and process Human Resources invoices to ensure the department is operating within budget. In collaboration with the Vice President of Human Resources and Office of General Counsel when appropriate, investigate, counsel, mediate and recommend actions and appropriate decisions with respect to employee relations issues and concerns to ensure a healthy work environment for all employees. Facilitate Human Resources related training. Maintain a working knowledge of other Human Resources functions in order to act as an additional resource as necessary. Administer Tuition Remission and Tuition Exchange programs in collaboration with Admissions and the Bursar's office. May participate in information sessions as necessary to interested employees. Perform other work-related duties as required by the Manager. Position Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. 1-3 years of progressive experience in human resources. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including group presentations. Demonstrated interpersonal communication. Demonstrated understanding of job evaluation and job analysis systems. Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects with various deadlines. Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate care. Demonstrated analytical skills including complex data analysis, manipulation, and reporting. Hands-on experience and comfort with HRIS, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of employment-related law and Human Resources best practices. HRCI or SHRM certification preferred. Application Materials Should Include: Resume.
