Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.We are hiring a motivated Sr. Software Engineer who is eager to learn and apply their technical skills with a commitment to quality and a passion for our mission and vision! You'll help build agentic, workflow-driven search and discovery platforms - powering enterprise knowledge graphs and AI-assisted search - using Python, Java, and JavaScript.This position is ideal for senior engineers who have extensive full-stack experience and can drive technical strategy while building user-centric search interfaces that are intuitive, performant, and aligned with mission-critical operations. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and make architectural decisions that support our manufacturing operations at scale.**Key Responsibilities:*** Lead technical architecture and design decisions for enterprise search and discovery platforms, ensuring scalability and performance at Blue Origin's operational scale* Drive development of sophisticated frontend search interfaces using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, with advanced features like semantic search, knowledge graph visualization, and AI-powered recommendations* Architect and implement complex backend services (REST, GraphQL, microservices) to support enterprise search, knowledge graph queries, AI agent orchestration, and real-time data integration* Own end-to-end deployment strategies within AWS containers, optimizing for performance, cost, and reliability using services like Amazon ECS, EKS, Lambda, and Fargate* Lead integration initiatives with AI/ML systems including advanced RAG implementations, the Strands Framework, BlueGPT capabilities, and external AI service providers* Collaborate directly with Product Management, Data Science, and business stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and deliver cohesive search experiences* Make critical architecture decisions for search platforms, balancing scalability, performance, maintainability, and security requirements* Design and optimize complex APIs for Sinequa integration, knowledge graph data access, and multi-modal search capabilities* Establish testing strategies and frameworks to ensure enterprise-grade reliability and performance of search APIs and applications* Lead troubleshooting of complex technical issues across search pipelines, AI integration, distributed systems, and application performance* Mentor and provide technical guidance to Level II and III engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices* Drive innovation by researching and prototyping emerging search, knowledge graph, and AI technologies* Influence technical standards and practices across the broader engineering organization**Required Qualifications:*** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience* 7+ years software development experience, with 3+ years in senior or lead engineering roles* **Proficiency with Large Language Models (LLMs) for code generation, debugging, and development assistance*** Expert-level proficiency in frontend technologies, particularly JavaScript/TypeScript with React ecosystem* Extensive experience with full-stack development using Node.js, Python, Java, or similar for complex backend services* Deep understanding of search technologies, information retrieval, and enterprise search architecture* Proven experience architecting and deploying production systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred)* Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design patterns* Experience with advanced database design and management (SQL, NoSQL, graph databases)* Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers* Expertise with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), version control (Git), testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies* Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teams**Preferred Qualifications:*** Advanced degree (Master's/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field* Extensive experience with enterprise search platforms (Sinequa, Elasticsearch, Solr) and search relevance tuning* Deep knowledge of knowledge graph technologies, graph databases (Neo4j, Neptune), semantic web technologies, and ontological modeling* Proven experience with AI/ML frameworks, particularly RAG systems, agent-based architectures, and LLM integration patterns* Experience with advanced data visualization frameworks (D3.js, Plotly, WebGL) and interactive data exploration tools* Understanding of manufacturing data workflows, aerospace engineering processes, or complex technical documentation systems* Experience with performance optimization, caching strategies, and large-scale system architecture* Published research, patents, or open-source contributions in search, AI, or related fields### Compensation Range for:WA applicants is $177,567.00-$248,593.80**Other site ranges may differ****Culture Statement****Export Control Regulations**Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.**Background Check*** Required for all positions: Blue’s Standard Background Check* Required for Certain Job Profiles:
