Under the direction of the Guest Services Supervisor, the part-time First Aid Attendant provides on-site emergency medical care and first aid to event patrons. The part-time First Aid Attendant will examine and treat minor injuries within the level and scope of his/her training and will provide reasonable observation and care for more serious cases until advanced medical personnel arrive. This position is Not Covered (At-will) as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Responds promptly and effectively to medical calls throughout the venue
  • Administers first aid treatment for minor injuries, including cleaning wounds and applying antiseptics, ointments, or bandages
  • Stabilizes more serious injuries and monitors patients until qualified medical personnel arrive
  • Collaborates with event staff and emergency responders to ensure overall patron safety and seamless care delivery
  • Documents all incidents and treatments accurately and comprehensively
  • Operates, inspects, and restocks medical equipment and supplies as needed
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked first aid room
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree or complete a certification program of comparable length (EMT or paramedic license preferred)
  • Possess at least one year of emergency medical or first aid experience
  • Maintain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED certifications
  • Demonstrate availability to work day, evening, weekend, and holiday events
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Remain calm and efficient in high-pressure situations
  • Sustain the physical stamina to navigate large event spaces and handle emergency scenarios

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

The part-time First Aid Attendant maintains frequent contact with other employees, promoters, exhibitors, vendors, clients and guests of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The part-time First Aid Attendant operates within an arena-style setting, involving extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional sitting throughout the day. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 30 lbs and proficient use of

a two-way radio for communication. Exposure to office conditions, varying noise levels, and occasional exposure to body fluids, chemicals, noxious odors/fumes, as well as high sound and lighting intensity environments, including those related to concerts and motorsports. Additionally, there may be occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (heat and cold).

  • Stand and walk for long periods, with occasional sitting
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs and perform repetitive motor tasks
  • Operate in noisy, extreme-temperature environments with exposure to fluids and fumes
