Overview
Manufacturing Field Service Technician – HOLT Manufacturing. The Manufacturing Field Service Technician performs basic assembly and installation of components by providing mechanical/electrical services that satisfy customer requirements/specifications and achieve departmental goals. This role may require working independently with specific direction or as a member of a team.
Responsibilities
- Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
- Assist in the assembly of custom genset and engine packages to meet customer requirements/specifications
- Remove and install parts, disassemble, and assemble basic components
- Communicate job progress to supervisor
- Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate time and re-work standards
- Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses, safety training and soft skills training opportunities
- Proactively recognize potential safety and quality issues
- Maintain company equipment, tools, and work areas in good, clean, and working order
- Work as part of a team to provide basic mechanical/electrical services that meet customer needs and departmental goals
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of estimating, planning, and controlling Work Order/Project costs
- Perform frequent assessment of parts needs, source/order, and supply as project requires
- Learn how to plan engine and component assembly
- Dedication to completing tasks, including overtime as required by workload and customer needs
- Work safely at all times and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Require regular and punctual employee attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of equipment and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance
- Exhibits knowledge and adherence to LOTO and other jobsite safety protocols
- Willingness to learn how to interpret and adhere to blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
- Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
- Willingness to learn Low to Medium voltage wiring systems and best practices
- Willingness to learn fluid control systems and best practices
- Knowledge of common manufacturing materials and proper fastener selection
- Ability to select the appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a job safely and effectively
- Ability to replicate tasks multiple times with consistent accuracy
- Knowledge and ability to adhere to safe work procedures and practices
- Ability to critically think and diagnose problems with systems and equipment
- Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures
- Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and mechanical repair equipment
- Ability to be self-starting, self-motivated, and organize work activities to use time efficiently
- Ability to make precise, coordinated movements with fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects
- Ability to read, write, and understand information
- Commitment to being dynamic and participating in educational opportunities
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Up to two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience preferred
Travel
- Up to 75% travel may be expected to include frequent travel to branch sites and customers’ locations
- Extended stays as required which may involve assignments up to 3 weeks or more at a time
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Frequent movements and use of limbs; good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending/crouching, and climbing
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
- Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath vehicles/equipment, in cramped/small spaces, and/or high elevated places
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
- Regularly exchanges accurate information with others in common communications
- Routinely uses computers, phones, and AV/video equipment
Work Environment
- Regularly works at branch or in the field at customer sites
- May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside
- Noise level may be loud at times
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- Exposure to small quantities of fuels, oils, electricity, and hot surfaces
- Requires wearing proper protective and safety equipment (PPE)
- Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
