MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Dedicated Phone Installation Technician to join our team in Herndon, VA . You will support a Dedicated Support Team working with the Voice Program Recap Office (VPRO) to install and maintain network equipment, various telephone systems, and associated service modules. This is a hands-on, field-focused role ideal for candidates who thrive in dynamic technical environments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform high-quality installations and troubleshoot a variety of telephone systems, including VoIP, analog, and ISDN lines.
- Run and terminate cables to voice switch equipment, ensuring professional and standards-compliant installations.
- Dress and organize cabling according to industry and Sponsor-specific standards.
- Mount and connect voice and network equipment in racks, handling power and service cabling as required.
- Conduct physical surveys to gather or verify site-specific information to support engineering or VSIT teams.
- Travel locally between customer buildings to support installation and maintenance tasks.
- Work the required shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM as part of a rotating coverage team operating between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Extended hours may be required during mission-critical periods or short-notice requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience implementing infrastructure networks, including:
- Classified LAN infrastructure — scripting, configuration, cutover, and troubleshooting.
- Unclassified LAN infrastructure — scripting, configuration, cutover, and troubleshooting.
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting telephone instruments and media gateways on both classified and unclassified networks.
- Broad experience with cabling technologies including 110 type cross connections, RJ45 patch panels, wire wrap terminals, copper cable terminations, DSX Panel T-1 cabling, and fiber terminations.
- Excellent knowledge of cabling methodologies, industry standards, troubleshooting techniques, and cable run documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting implementation on the Sponsor's new unclassified LAN infrastructure.
- Administrative experience with special non-commercial systems (e.g., access management, file transfer).
- Proven VoIP telephone installation experience.
- Related work experience in IT hardware installation and structured cabling systems.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time. Constantly operate a computer, phone, and other office equipment for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to move/traverse within and between buildings and offices, position self to maintain equipment and cabling, including under desks, while moving floor tiles, and in server closets, some of which may be confined spaces.
- Must be able to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing 50 pounds or more. Some equipment may require team-lift or use of carts. Ascends/descends a ladder 10+ feet high while pulling cables and adjusting equipment.
