Mission
The A-C Electric Company Internship Experience Program offers a
hands-on, immersive
learning opportunity for students interested in the intersection of
mathematics, engineering, and construction project planning . Over the course of this
10-week program , interns will gain exposure to real-world estimating practices in the electrical construction industry, working on active bids and project proposals that shape our future work. As a
Project Estimating Intern , you will collaborate with experienced estimators and project executives to analyze plans, quantify materials and labor, and prepare competitive bids. You’ll see first-hand how precise estimating impacts the success of multimillion-dollar electrical projects.
About You: We are looking for humble and hungry, agile students who have a drive for results, a desire to learn, and who can quickly build relationships. We are looking for students who are passionate about engineering and the construction industry.
Desired Majors:
Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or Business with a quantitative focus
Key Responsibilities Over the course of our 10-week internship experience you will have the opportunity to: Work under the guidance of a mentor to learn the complete project estimating process Interpret and review project drawings, specifications, and scope documents Perform
accurate quantity take-offs
for electrical materials, labor, and equipment Research vendor and subcontractor pricing to prepare cost databases Assist in developing bid proposals and supporting cost documentation Learn to use estimating software and digital tools for efficiency and accuracy Apply mathematical and analytical techniques to improve estimating processes Participate in
Book Club assignments
to enhance communication and leadership skills Contribute to a
LEAN project
aimed at process improvement, concluding with a formal presentation to senior leaders Engage in networking opportunities, team-building events, and industry meet-and-greets
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): Ability to work full-time for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 Enrolled student attending a college or university with an expected graduation on or before August 2027
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): We’re looking for students who have shown solid academic performance — at least a 3.0 GPA in upper-division courses for your major, or a 2.75 GPA overall. Exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations. Strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research, or engineering internships. Exceptional communication skills, interest, and enthusiasm related to electrical engineering and/or construction.
Relocation: Must be able to relocate to Bakersfield, CA or Fresno, CA for the entirety of the internship.

$16.00/hr. - $22.00/hr . Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
