Job Title: Estimator – Heavy Concrete Construction (Federal a Plus)
Location:
Long Beach, CA Position Summary: We are looking for an experienced
Estimator
with strong expertise in
heavy concrete and structural construction . While federal project experience is a plus, candidates from
concrete subcontractors
with large-scale estimating experience are strongly encouraged to apply. This role will focus on preparing accurate cost estimates for federal, institutional, and large commercial projects. Key Responsibilities: Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope of work Perform detailed takeoffs and pricing for formwork, rebar, concrete, and structural systems Develop cost estimates including labor, equipment, and materials Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals Prepare bid proposals and participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits Provide value engineering options to support project competitiveness Maintain estimating databases and track historical cost information Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure constructability and accuracy Qualifications: 5–10+ years of estimating experience in
heavy concrete/structural projects Federal project estimating experience (USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, VA) a strong plus Candidates with experience from
concrete subcontractors
are encouraged to apply Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, WinEst, On-Screen Takeoff) Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under deadlines Excellent organizational and communication skills Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
