About The Position

Days & Nights (12 Hours) Hours per Week:
36 or 48 Location:
Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701 Unit Details: 39 ICU beds (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU – mixed acuity)
Patient Types: Medical, surgical, neuro, cardiac, trauma, ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-surgical, post-cardiac cath
Ratios: RN 1:1 or 1:2 (acuity dependent)
Support: 1–2 CNAs per unit + mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, 24/7 RT, intensivists coverage (3 days/2 nights), APP coverage nights
Floating: ICU to ED or other adult units if needed
Orientation: Hospital orientation
1 twelve-hour ICU shift + 1 eight-hour ICU shift with preceptor
Scheduling: Days & Nights available, 36 or 48 hours per week
Weekend rotation: every other (not guaranteed)
No on-call requirements
Holiday RTO not accepted
Up to 7 days off approved if contract extended
Blackout: No RTO during Sturgis Motorcycle Rally (first 3 weeks in August annually)

Job Requirements Requirements: Active RN license in South Dakota
Minimum 2 years ICU experience (excluding travel) preferred
Prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers not accepted
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (must be obtained prior to start if not already held)
Epic EMR experience required
Skills: ventilator management, telemetry, proning, hemodynamic lines, vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, critical drips, strong assessment and critical thinking, teamwork in fast-paced ICU/trauma setting
Advanced experience preferred: Impella, IABP, CRRT
