Medical Assistant (No Certifications Required)
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to ensure optimum quality control and coordination of activities within our scheduling department. This role involves managing appointment schedules, communicating with both internal and external medical providers, and maintaining accurate patient records. Responsibilities: Ensure optimum quality control and coordination of scheduling activities. Act as the designated scheduler/receptionist responsible for appointment scheduling. Work with the Lead Scheduler to complete all patient communications in a timely and appropriate manner. Coordinate and authorize veteran care with community providers when services are not available or timely within the organization. Communicate with internal medical providers on VA Community Care rules and processes. Validate and update patient demographic information. Process necessary health and administrative information into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and VistA. Manage community care consults using HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM) and PPMS systems. Screen and receive phone calls courteously and promptly, responding to inquiries regarding service delivery. Utilize Microsoft Office products for daily tasks, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams. Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, and pre/post-appointment contacts as required. Deliver quality customer service to patients, families, VA staff, contractors, physicians, fellows, and residents. Essential Skills: High School education or GED equivalent. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute. Experience with electronic medical records and medical reception. Care coordination skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency in oral and written English. Experience using VistA, Health Share Referral Manager (HSRM), Enterprise Precision Scanning and Indexing (EPSI), Cisco (Call Center), CTM (Consult Tracking Manager), CPRS, PPMS, ICB, and ISS/VSE. Work Environment: The position is based at the Helena VA Sleep Center. The work environment involves using various scheduling and patient management systems and requires interacting with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and patients. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Helena, Montana. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $21.02 - $23.00/hr.
