Must-Have: - Pediatric experience - Competence in vaccine administration, blood pressure checks, ear flushes, vital signs, and standard rooming with EMR
Description: A Medical Assistant is a healthcare professional and an essential member of the patient-centered healthcare team. The Medical Assistant is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining basic life support certification and remaining compliant with all organizational educational, licensure, or certification requirements. This role may cross-train to provide services across sites and float as needed to maintain optimal clinic operations.
Responsibilities include: Rooms patients using the standard rooming procedure in a timely manner to ensure optimal patient flow and meet customer service standards. Performs clinical tasks including, but not limited to, point of care testing, medication and vaccination administration, application of durable medical equipment, phlebotomy, and assisting with procedures per protocol. Completes administrative duties such as medication refills per protocol, prior authorizations, communicating normal results, and handling incoming and outgoing paperwork within the standard turnaround time. Assists with scheduling functionalities and referral facilitation tracking per clinic guidelines. Provides and reviews appropriate educational materials, instructions, and after-visit summaries as directed per clinic guidelines. Utilizes EMR to document all patient care accurately, professionally, and timely, including level of service where applicable. Escalates situations of compliance risk or patient safety concerns to proper members of the care team and/or leadership in a timely manner. Performs pre-visit planning and registry management per clinic guidelines. Follows all safety and infection control standards to provide safe patient care and maintain a safe work environment. Supports inventory control and maintenance of equipment. May be responsible for specialty-specific clinical tasks and non-clinical duties within the Medical Assistant scope as directed by department leadership. May obtain appropriate patient consent documentation within scope for applicable procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
