Pay Rate:
Local - $29/hour (W2) | Travel - $33.63/hour (40 hours per week) Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, and sterilized for safe use in patient care. This role supports surgical and procedural teams by maintaining a high standard of aseptic technique, organization, and attention to detail. Responsibilities: Decontaminate, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following hospital standards. Assemble, organize, and inspect instrument trays to ensure proper functionality. Use aseptic techniques in handling and preparing sterile supplies. Select appropriate wrapping materials and ensure proper labeling. Operate sterilization equipment and maintain accurate sterilization records. Prepare and manage case carts according to preference cards and surgical schedules. Ensure the sterile storage area is clean, organized, and compliant with infection control guidelines. Collaborate with operating room staff to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and supplies. Required Skills & Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in sterile processing within an
acute hospital OR
or
ambulatory surgery center . Proficiency in
decontamination, disinfection, aseptic technique, tray organization, and sterilization wrapping procedures . Familiarity with
case carts, preference cards, labeling, and instrument tracking systems . Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under time-sensitive conditions. Licenses & Certifications: CRCST certification
(Certified Registered Central Service Technician) required. Current BLS certification (AHA)
required.
