Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as a vital member of the healthcare team, representing the organization to patients during their visits. This role is responsible for performing accurate and high-quality blood draws, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and accuracy standards. The PSR II ensures a welcoming, professional environment where patients feel informed and comfortable throughout the collection process. Work assignments may include a physician's office, patient service center, or other designated locations as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional workspace in compliance with all safety and infection control protocols. Collect forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures. Verify patient identification, demographics, and labeling to ensure accurate documentation. Maintain required records and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards. Protect patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism and compassion in all interactions. Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and coworkers. Support training initiatives and process improvement activities as directed. Job Requirements
Proven ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed. Sound judgment and decision-making skills within established procedures. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (required for travel between sites). Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting. Strong customer service focus and commitment to continuous improvement. Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry. Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic coursework preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington). Work Experience
Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. At least two years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred. Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred. COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position. This position is on-site only and follows a Monday-Friday schedule, 5:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. or 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with every other Saturday rotation. Training locations may vary based on trainer availability. Position requires travel between multiple locations; floaters must arrive on time at their assigned site each day. Reliable personal transportation is required; public or rideshare options (e.g., bus, Uber) are not considered reliable for this role. Floaters must maintain a clean driving record and may submit mileage for reimbursement. Candidates must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of their assigned site. Consistent, punctual attendance is required. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination. Rate of pay is based on years of directly related experience as documented on the resume (overlapping roles are not counted twice).
