Phlebotomist Location:  Position Type: Full-Time, On-site Position Overview:  The WHSP Phlebotomist is responsible for the collection and preparation of blood and other specimens for clinical and research testing, ensuring accuracy, safety, and an exceptional patient experience. As an integral part of a multidisciplinary team in a women-focused and elite athlete healthcare environment, this position supports a wide range of health, sports performance, and scientific initiatives.  Collect blood samples for both clinical diagnostics and research studies, following all protocol-specific procedures.  Identify patients according to policy using two approved identifiers.  Monitor individuals during and after blood collection to ensure comfort, safety, and adequate blood flow; Select and prepare appropriate collection tubes, containers, labels, and documentation for each specimen.  Maintain knowledge of test requirements, including special handling, temperature control, light sensitivity, and other specific collection criteria for clinical and research tests.  Communicate clearly and professionally with providers, research staff, and team members regarding specimen needs and collection procedures.  Accurately enter data into the electronic health record (EHR) and/or research databases as required.  Uphold infection control and safety standards in compliance with OSHA and institutional protocols.  Maintain phlebotomy supplies and ensure equipment is clean, organized, and functional.  Support general clinic flow and contribute to a welcoming, supportive patient experience.  Participate in quality improvement and continuing education relevant to phlebotomy, women’s health, and athlete monitoring.  Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA rules and regulations as well as any confidentiality or non-disclosure agreements to protect patient privacy and institutional data integrity. High school diploma or equivalent required.  Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.  National phlebotomy certification (e.g., At least one year of phlebotomy experience preferred; experience in a clinical and/or research setting is a plus.
