Overview We are looking for a HR Manager to join our team at Animal Supply Company (ASC). The Human Resources Manager will oversee key aspects of the HR function, develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs to support the organization’s objectives, and foster a positive work environment. This role serves as a strategic partner to management, providing guidance on HR matters and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities Team Management: Lead and supervise the HR Services team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure professional development and effectiveness. Delegate tasks and assignments effectively, leveraging team strengths to achieve departmental goals. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting open communication, mutual respect, and accountability. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members. Manage workload distribution and resource allocation to optimize productivity. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with HR leadership to develop HR strategies aligned with organizational goals. Assess HR needs and develop plans to address them effectively. Regularly meet with managers to support organizational needs and understand goals. Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues and provide guidance to managers and teammates. Investigate and mediate conflicts, ensuring fair and consistent resolution. Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and morale. Performance Management: Administer performance management systems to evaluate teammate performance and promote continuous improvement. Provide training and coaching to managers on performance management best practices. Coordinate annual performance appraisal processes and facilitate goal-setting sessions. Develop performance improvement plans for teammates not meeting expectations. Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop programs to address them. Coordinate delivery of training sessions for teammates at all levels. Monitor effectiveness of training programs and adjust as necessary. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: Support the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring decisions. Develop and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies, universities, and other talent sources. Implement effective onboarding programs for new hires. Compliance and Legal: Stay up to date on employment laws and regulations and ensure organizational compliance. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure fair treatment. Handle investigations and audits related to HR matters with confidentiality and professionalism. Problem-solving: Analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies. Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes and foster constructive dialogue. Change Management: Communicate and support organizational change. HR Legal Knowledge: Understand employment laws and regulations. Talent Acquisition and Management: Recruit, select, retain, and develop teammates. HR Technology Proficiency: Use HRIS and other software effectively. Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, agreements, and settlements. Cultural Competence: Work effectively with diverse teammates. Ethical Decision-Making: Demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) or six years of equivalent HR experience. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desirable. Proven experience as an HR manager or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of HR best practices. Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR software; Dayforce preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with employment law in states such as California, Colorado, Washington, Illinois, and New York. Working Conditions Distribution center setting with equipment and noise from equipment. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts such as lifts. Occasional outdoor weather conditions. Available via computer, video conferencing, and phone during business hours. May require work outside of core schedule based on business needs. Travel may be required based on business needs (estimated 10%). Physical Abilities Primarily sitting, with some walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting or moving objects. Able to hear and speak on the telephone. Close visual work on a computer terminal. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and mouse. Compensation is based on factors including role, level, and location, and may vary with knowledge, skills, and experience. Included in total compensation are benefits such as medical, dental, and retirement.
