Compensation Range: $21/hr - $24hr commensurate with experience

Benefits:

Overview:

The Electrician shouldinstall, maintain, and repairelectricalcontrol, wiring, and lighting systems. Inspectcircuit breakers and otherelectricalcomponents.Troubleshootelectricalissues using appropriate testing devices. Repair and replace equipment,electricalwiring, or fixtures. They assist theOperations Managerin maintaining agency property (owned or leased) and facilities. They must adhere to the scheduled repair and preventive maintenance plan to ensure that all common and office areas of the facilities are maintained in an orderly manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Make routine repairs to facility and thrift stores daily.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
  • Perform general electrical maintenance.
  • Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
  • Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.
  • Follow National Electrical Code state and local building regulations.
  • Circuit breaker corrective maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of various test equipment.
  • Process work order repair requests/equipment needs as directed by supervisor.
  • Apprise supervisor of activities and conditions that may affect facility operations and goals.
  • Participate in continuing education programs for professional growth and skills building.
  • Participate in staff meetings/trainings.
  • Participate in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crises of homelessness and AIDS.
  • Order necessary supplies.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisorand/or senior staff.

    • Builds relationships with other Housing works Departments and demonstrates excellent teamwork and growing this within the department and organization.
    • Listens to questions and concerns, evaluating issues and possible solutions, fixing the problem as appropriate, working with others to address systemic problems, and ensuring that staff members receive the necessary training and tools needed.
    • Maintains a high level of professionalism, integrity, and communication with other staff.
    • Provides excellent internal and external customer service; recognizes the needs of team members and is direct, specific, and non-punishing in communication and behaviors.
  • Advocacy:
    • Participate in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crisis of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
Minimum Requirements
  • Deep electrical system, power generation, blueprints and maintenance and repair knowledge.
  • At least two years technical skill or experienceworking as an Electrician.
  • Must have a valid New York State or New Jersey driver's license.
  • Must have good organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work overtime hours and be on-call 24 hours/7days.
  • Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, and individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and exercise good judgment, and to work independently and collaboratively with minimal daily supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional computer software skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and working familiarity with Salesforce or similar.
  • Ability to travel to appointments, meetings, conferences, etc. for job-related business.
