Location : Rockford, Illinois Experience: 1 Yrs Interview Type: Phone Interview Employment Type: Contract W2 Experience Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Key Responsibilities Prepare the cardiovascular operating room with necessary sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to procedures. Verify equipment functionality and ensure all required materials are available and sterile. Assist in the setup, draping, and maintenance of a sterile field throughout the procedure. Anticipate the surgeons needs and provide instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently and accurately. Assist in handling specialized cardiovascular equipment such as bypass machines, grafts, and catheters. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic and sterile technique protocols. Count sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse before, during, and after surgery. Support in preparing and maintaining specimens for analysis as directed by the surgical team. Assist with patient positioning and preparation as necessary, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Participate in post-operative room turnover, cleaning, and restocking of supplies for subsequent procedures. Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and nurses to ensure coordinated patient care. Participate in continuing education and maintain certification to stay current with surgical advancements and techniques. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required (NBSTSA or equivalent). Cardiovascular specialty certification (CVOR Tech) preferred. License: State licensure (if applicable). Experience: Minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience required, with at least 1 year in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery preferred.
