The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating construction machinery to move materials, excavate, grade, or perform other tasks required for construction projects. This role requires knowledge of equipment operation, safety regulations, and coordination with other crew members to complete projects efficiently.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, graders, cranes, and dump trucks.
• Inspect equipment daily before use, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or work orders to understand project requirements.
• Move, lift, or grade materials (soil, gravel, asphalt, etc.) according to project specifications.
• Assist in site preparation, excavation, and leveling of terrain.
• Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Coordinate with other crew members, supervisors, or subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of equipment, and ensure fuel and fluids are adequate.
• Keep accurate records of equipment usage, hours worked, and materials moved.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license; commercial drivers license (CDL) may be required.
• Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Knowledge of construction site safety and OSHA regulations.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions

• Construction site environments, sometimes noisy, dusty, or uneven terrain.
• May require working long hours, overtime, or weekends depending on project needs.
