Phillips Exeter Academy is seeking a temporary Admissions Office Assistant to support the Admissions Department’s goal to recruit the finest students.

The successful candidate will provide exceptional verbal and written communication for families going through the admissions process, complete accurate and efficient data entry, and create a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist applicants and families with questions regarding the admissions process in a timely, accurate, professional, and welcoming manner.
  • Assess incoming documentation against admissions guidelines.
  • Perform accurate data entry into systems for all processes.
  • Confidently work in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level, especially in Outlook.
  • Support the advisor team in key areas, including communications, event management, alumni relations, program relations, system integration, exception handling, and reporting and analytics.
  • Provide a professional and welcoming experience to all visitors.
  • Ensure a professional appearance of Bissell House.
  • Active team member in coordinating the student ambassador program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with the public in a service capacity.
  • Experience working both independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the school and campus highly preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students by building trust and credibility.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.
  • A strict adherence to confidential policies is required.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • High degree of organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and multi-task with accuracy.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.

Additional Requirements

  • Successfully complete a criminal background check.
