Responsibilities
- Establish a route plan by referencing manifest summary, verify package counts, and load the truck accordingly.
- Complete a vehicle inspection (lights, tires, brakes) before every departure.
- Drive the assigned truck and deliver products in a safe and responsible manner while adhering to all driving laws.
- Deliver packages to the area designated by the clinic.
- Recheck package counts and special instructions (e.g., COD) and have someone at the clinic sign for the delivery.
- Pick up any preauthorized product returns.
- Communicate with branch and/or warehouse manager regarding problems experienced with or expressed by clinics.
- Ensure the assigned truck is in sound operational condition by scheduling regular maintenance (e.g., oil changes) and communicating concerns to the appropriate manager.
Qualifications
- Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Experience as a delivery driver is preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver's License; DOT requirements (e.g., DOT Medical Card, CDL, random drug testing) depend on factors such as delivery route and vehicle driven.
- Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to differentiate details related to product codes and descriptions (e.g., verifying a string of numbers).
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
- Ability to work well with others and independently.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Attention to detail for route planning and accurate delivery.
- Regular interaction with people; team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with multi-tasking.
- Potential stress related to weather and traffic conditions.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
- Repetitive motion: reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying.
- Regularly lift/move up to 20 pounds, frequently up to 70 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs, balance, stand/walk on concrete for extended periods.
- Physical challenges related to severe weather, traffic, detours, and mechanical problems; duties may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
Work Environment
- Work typically Monday through Friday; overtime may be required.
- Work will be on the road and clinic to clinic year-round with exposure to seasonal elements.
- Moderate exposure to dust and dirt; may require overnight stays depending on route.
- Safety-sensitive position.
