Recreation Instructors are needed to teach fitness classes for our Active Adult population. Our centers cater to retired adults, offering a variety of disciplines and skill levels, from seated Yoga to more energetic “Aerobics” style classes. We currently offer a variety of classes, including Aerobics, Cardio, Line Dancing, Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, Zumba, and more.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and hold a fitness certification with a minimum of one year of experience related to the specific class being offered. Experience teaching older adults is preferred.
Active Adult Classes are offered at the following centers, along with a select number of classes at other City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources facilities.

- Walnut Terrace Neighborhood Center (for Active Adults), 1256 McCauley Street, Raleigh, NC 27601
ADA and Other Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity:
The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Working Conditions:
The worker is subject to both inside and outside conditions—protection from the weather, but not necessarily temperature changes. Also subject to noise. The noise level is sufficient to cause the worker to shout to be heard.
