This is a temporary position with the State of North Carolina, located in Raleigh - Wake County. The hourly rate of pay is $16.50, based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application.

The State Capitol Police Section is charged with providing security and law enforcement services to government agencies within the NC State Capitol Complex and surrounding government facilities. This position will be responsible for providing security for staff and visitors at state-owned facilities, protecting grounds and buildings against theft, fire, vandalism, and unlawful entry, and performing visitor security screenings.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of standard safety surveillance and security practices and equipment, as well as the ability to walk and stand for long periods, respond quickly to emergency situations, and meet and deal with the public tactfully and effectively.

Requirements include a high school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to complete emergency medical technician (EMT) training and meet re-certification standards may be required.

Responsibilities
