We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and passionate Senior MTS Software Engineer and Technical Lead to join our Seller Experience Listing Tool and Service team. You will lead, architect, design, and develop innovative, highly performant software across device form factors, empowering millions of business sellers to onboard, manage inventory & listings, and grow their businesses on the world’s largest marketplace. Performance, reliability, scalability, and accuracy are paramount in this top-of-funnel area of eBay’s e-commerce ecosystem. Responsibilities

Independently lead high-impact initiatives within eBay’s selling inventory management domain, from conception to production rollout. Architect, design, and develop cross-data center distributed, fault-tolerant, highly available, and performant web services and applications with strong architecture design, OOA/D, and analytical/problem-solving skills. Promote clean architecture, modern frameworks, quality gates, and adherence to design patterns and coding standards. Improve engineering velocity through design/code reviews, operational excellence (SLOs, observability, incident management), and scalable practices. Act as a technical mentor for senior and junior engineers on architecture standards and problem solving; introduce AI-first frameworks and reusable components to reduce friction. Automate diagnostics, monitoring, and remediation using intelligent assistants and prediction-based alerting. Lead by example: write reference implementations, contribute to core libraries and services, and conduct in-depth code reviews to uplift standards. Develop Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and contribute to user documentation and standards. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementations, and manage system changes; identify mitigation strategies for technical risks. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field; 14+ years of experience in scalable distributed platforms, with 4+ years in staff/architect-level technical lead roles across multiple domains. Hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Framework, GraphQL design, REST/JSON, and design patterns; experience with federated GraphQL is a plus. Proficiency in Java and/or Scala, strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multithreading, and concurrent programming; deep architectural understanding and delivery track record. Experience with relational databases (Oracle) and NoSQL data stores (Mongo, Cassandra, Couchbase), Elasticsearch, and related tools. Strong collaboration and influence across functional and geographically distributed teams; excellent time management and ability to manage concurrent priorities. Proven ability to drive architecture discussions, produce design docs, participate in design/code reviews, and contribute to unit testing of fault-tolerant applications. Solid CS fundamentals with up-to-date knowledge of Web technologies and a drive for innovation. Ability to mentor engineers, influence organizational practices, and make long-term architectural decisions that drive measurable business outcomes. The base pay range for this position is expected to be

$152,400 - $247,800 . Base pay offered may vary based on location, skills, and experience; total compensation may include bonuses, RSUs, and a full range of benefits (including 401(k) and PTO).
