Overview
Senior Drainage Design Manager position within HNTB’s Design-Build (DB) Organization. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience leading teams on fast-paced transportation projects and possess subject matter expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management. What You'll Do
Develop the project scope and fee quotation and assist in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and client satisfaction. Lead client contract scoping and negotiations. Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Lead the development and execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor the team to achieve project objectives. Be responsible for/oversee project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, succession planning, and support for performance and compensation reviews. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, build client relationships, and pursue mega and super mega projects in line with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Prepare proposal and presentation materials and lead proposal development and interviews for strategic projects. May be responsible for recruitment, hiring, development, retention of staff, and related planning and reviews. Performs other duties as assigned. What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience 4 years of successful management of engineering projects What You'll Bring
Leading a drainage team for delivery of design plans on complex transportation infrastructure projects Leads project teams in design modeling, calculations, plans, specs, and quality control Works with other disciplines for fully integrated design Collaborates with project management and contracting partners to ensure efficient, constructible designs Provides engineering to develop cost estimates and identify risks for job pursuits Develops scopes, fees, and work plans to execute projects on aggressive schedules Directs design tasks to deliver quality deliverables on schedule Acts as a subject matter expert and provides senior review of designs, proposals, fee estimates, and scopes of work Hydrology and hydraulics design of surface water runoff collection and conveyance systems, stormwater management design, open channel modeling, scour analysis, and mitigation measures Proficient with standard industry software (Microstation, InRoads Drainage, GEOPAK Drainage, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Storm CAD, HEC-RAS 1D & 2D, SWMM, PondPack, Culvert Master, Flow Master, etc.) What We Prefer
Master’s degree in Engineering 15+ years of relevant experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management on fast-paced transportation infrastructure projects, including progression to task and project management Professional Engineer (PE) certification, and ability to obtain PE in multiple states Excellent communication skills Familiarity with construction methods and optimizing designs accordingly Familiarity with permitting at federal, state, and local levels CA PE preferred Additional Information
