The HR Generalist will support the full spectrum of HR functions with a focus on HR administration, employee inquiries, recruitment, and benefits. This role requires a detail-oriented, confidential professional who excels at multitasking and uses strong analytical skills to ensure compliance with federal and California state regulations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and process optimization is desired. Key Responsibilities

HR Administration Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS, ensure data privacy compliance, manage employment and payroll records, and perform monthly audits. Familiarity with record retention and archiving terminated HR files in accordance with regulations. Support the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs to support organizational goals. Manage leaves of absence (LOAs), reasonable accommodations, and other sensitive employee matters with discretion and compliance using the Guardian Absence Management System. Track monthly benefit premium payments. Prepare HR reports and dashboards to track metrics (turnover, headcount, retention, demographics, HR scorecard). Coordinate employee engagement programs and internal communications. Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws, with a focus on California regulations. Assist with benefits administration, enrollments, changes, and inquiries, with knowledge of all company benefits (health, 401(k), PTO, etc.). Respond to EDD unemployment and disability claims, Guardian disability claims, and other employment verifications timely and accurately. Support annual open enrollment for onsite and remote employees. Stay current with HR trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies. Other duties as assigned. Payroll Assistance Duties: Coordinate onboarding/offboarding with the Payroll Administrator, ensure completion of HRIS paperwork, verify timesheets and leave balances for accurate payroll, and assist with status changes (promotions, transfers, salary adjustments). Assist with wage garnishments and other court-ordered deductions in coordination with payroll. Training and Development: Coordinate trainings, maintain calendars, and track completion in HRIS or training platforms. Performance Management: Support design and implementation of performance management programs, coordinate review cycles, provide guidance on feedback and development, and analyze data to identify improvement opportunities. General HR Support: Support recruitment across departments (postings, screening, interviews using Paylocity tools) and assist with benefits programs and vendor coordination. Ensure policy adherence and participate in audits as needed. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related certification. 5–7 years of HR experience, with proven HR administration and payroll processing in a high-growth environment. Knowledge of HRIS and payroll software (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, Paycom). Required Skills

Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data visualization, macros) for HR and payroll reporting. Knowledge of California and federal employment laws; multi-state experience preferred. Experience handling LOAs, ADA/FEHA accommodations, and confidential issues. Strong written and verbal communication; ability to write clear emails to employees. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities in a fast-paced environment. High integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. Analytical mindset with meticulous data entry and problem-solving skills. Ability to work remotely and independently, as well as in a small team. Proactive, self-driven, and able to identify what needs to be done. Proficiency in creating impactful content using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of self-funded benefit programs a plus. Work Information

This is a full-time remote position. Preference for candidates residing in California with strong knowledge of California employment laws. Weekly virtual meetings are required. Some flexibility in work hours to accommodate different time zones. Approximately 25% travel to company sites within the U.S. is expected; if not residing in California, candidates must reside within the contiguous United States.
