The Plant Director will oversee the entire operations and performance of the plant. Responsibility includes, but are not limited to, setting and managing strategic goals, managing operation resources, technical oversight, and ensuring budget commitments are achieved. The Plant Director will encompass a broad range of responsibilities, team development and coaching, overseeing business strategies, budget management, cost management, and maintaining vigilance to Safety, Environmental, and Financial stewardship. The Plant Director will oversee-manage a team of associates with responsibilities in safety, productivity, quality control, supply chain, and maintenance, commercial development, and financial management to ensure commitments are achieved. The Plant Director will collaborate with union leadership to foster a culture of trust and transparency ensuring the facility operates at maximum efficiency while exceeding industry regulations and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities: Deliver OPSP performance to budget Operational KPI excellence and continuous improvement (i.e. PTM, safety, OH, FTE, CNQ, OT) Optimisation of processes and development of productivity potential Ensuring occupational safety and timely production with regard to the quantity and quality of products Accurate and timely financial reporting requirements Business growth & profitability optimization for both CH Type I and Import MG products MG distribution channel to market for both Type I and Imports including 3PL warehouse operations Lead commercial engagement strategy, tactics, and organization structure Ensure operations are compliant with regulatory, legal, and industry certification requirements Lead and manage union labor contracts Essential Accountabilities: Leadership & Team Management Lead, motivate, and develop a team of department managers and staff across safety, quality, sales, operations, and union leadership Foster a culture of Safety, Quality, accountability, and continuous improvement through the plant Ensure effective communication across all departments to maintain operational alignment Support and engagement with counterparts in other company divisions Strategic Planning & Reporting: Collaborate with senior leadership on long-term strategic planning and facility growth Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on plant performance, including financials, production metrics, and project statuses Develop and implement long-term plans for the site/facility upgrades, capacity expansions, or technological advancements Safety & Environmental Stewardship: Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and environmental regulations; promote a culture of safety through training, audits, and risk mitigation Oversee resolution of safety hazards and ensure compliance with environmental laws and sustainability initiatives Cost Management & Budgeting: Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the plant, ensuring cost-effective use of resources; support areas for cost savings and operational efficiencies; ensure expenses are within budgetary guidelines Customer Commercial Engagement: Engage with customers and the sales team to exceed customer requirements and expectations; timely responses to product quality or delivery concerns; ensure orders are processed accurately and delivered on time Production Management: Oversee daily manufacturing processes to adhere to production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency targets; oversee planning and scheduling to optimize output and on-time delivery; coach leadership to address issues promptly; ensure preventive maintenance and timely equipment servicing Evaluate and invest in new equipment or technology to enhance productivity and efficiency Quality Control & Compliance: Implement stringent quality control processes to maintain high product standards Supply Chain & Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels from raw materials to finished products; collaborate with supply chain and procurement to ensure smooth material flow; address disruptions and mitigate risks Continuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other best practices; identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization; lead innovation in production techniques or product offerings Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy; strong time management and organizational skills; high attention to detail; analytical and problem-solving abilities. Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, Chemistry, or related field. MBA, Operations Management, or relevant technical master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a glass manufacturing or pharmaceutical packaging environment is REQUIRED. Proven experience in managing large-scale production operations, including overseeing production, maintenance, quality, and logistics functions. Extensive experience in regulatory compliance (FDA, GMP, ISO) and quality control in pharmaceutical packaging. Experience in budget development and cost control; track record of leading continuous improvement, lean, or Six Sigma projects. Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel to balance staffing with profitability and growth. Salary Range:
