Overview Zions Bancorporation’s Enterprise Technology and Operations (ETO) team is transforming what it means to work for a financial institution. We seek a skilled and collaborative Software Engineer with a strong foundation in backend development, API integration, and cross-functional collaboration to grow within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend systems, services, and database architecture
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to plan, design, and deliver high-quality software solutions
Debug and troubleshoot issues across the full stack, including client-side and server-side components
Integrate third-party APIs and services to enhance application functionality and user experience
Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive unit and integration tests
Document technical designs, workflows, and code to support long-term maintainability and scalability
Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices
Engage in design discussions, sprint planning, and product demos to contribute ideas and showcase progress
Demonstrate emotional intelligence and empathy in team interactions, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
Qualifications
4+ years of professional experience in backend software development
Bachelor’s in computer science, computer engineering, or related field; a combination of education and experience may meet qualifications
Fluency in at least one Python web framework (FastAPI, Django, Flask, etc.)
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and data modeling/query optimization
Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful services
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Familiarity with CI/CD environments
Java and Spring Boot experience is preferred
Hands-on exposure to React and UI technologies (TypeScript, CSS) is preferred
Experience with streaming services (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is preferred
Familiarity with Cloud technologies (GCP, AWS) is preferred
Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, and other authentication technologies is preferred
Experience with NoSQL technologies (Redis, MongoDB, etc.) is preferred
