The University of Notre Dame Athletics seeks an experienced aquatics professional to oversee the Rolfs Aquatic Center, home to Notre Dame’s varsity Swimming and Diving programs and a hub for faculty, staff, students, and community members. This role leads daily operations, elevates the student-athlete and fan experience, and ensures the facility remains a premier aquatics venue in collegiate athletics. Reporting to the Department of Athletics, this leader will manage all aspects of aquatics management—from water quality and compliance to event operations and staff development.

What You’ll Do

Facility Oversight: Lead the day-to-day operations of Rolfs Aquatic Center and aquatic therapy tubs, ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant environment that meets University, local, and state standards.

Water Quality & Safety: Coordinate with Aquatics Technicians on chemical treatments, daily water testing, maintenance, and compliance with all health department regulations.

Event Leadership: Serve as Meet Director for Notre Dame’s home Swimming and Diving competitions and other aquatic events, managing timing systems, technology, visiting team coordination, and event-day logistics.

Collaboration: Partner with varsity coaches, athletic trainers, facilities staff, and campus partners to meet practice, competition, and maintenance needs.

Staff Management: Supervise a team including two full-time technicians, a part-time desk attendant, lifeguards, and student workers; lead hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluations.

Administrative Excellence: Oversee budgeting, purchasing, work orders, and capital improvement planning while ensuring compliance with policies and risk management procedures.

Customer Experience: Enhance experience for student-athletes, coaches, and community members through open communication, responsive service, and smooth event operations.

Special Projects: Assist with facility preparation and management during home meets and support other Athletics initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in aquatics

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification required

Certified Pool Operator license strongly preferred

Thorough knowledge of State of Indiana aquatic regulations

Previous facility management experience required

Ability to work nights and weekends

Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with coaches, staff, student-athletes, customers, and fans

Proven experience leading and managing a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Information

Salary: Up to $70,000
