Senior Software Engineer - Top Secret Clearance

Overview
Approach Venture is seeking a Full Stack / Data Platform Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance to design front-end and back-end systems that deliver real-time insights for aerospace and defense applications. As an early hire, you will contribute across the full stack and help shape a foundational platform from the ground up. Responsibilities
Design and implement a scalable, end-to-end data platform that supports high-volume telemetry. Build intuitive user interfaces to visualize and transform millions of data points. Collaborate closely with hardware engineers and customers to understand workflows and deliver impactful solutions. Contribute to system architecture, design reviews, and peer code evaluations. Establish and refine engineering standards, culture, and best practices. Partner with teammates on both infrastructure and application layers to ensure system reliability and performance. Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance (TS/SCI strongly preferred). Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, mathematics, physics, or related STEM discipline. 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering. Strong coding skills in Go, Python, or an equivalent modern language. Experience building distributed systems, large-scale applications, or real-time data platforms. Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to operate in fast-moving, ambiguous startup environments. Preferred Experience
Hands-on work with streaming and analytics tools such as Apache Kafka, Flink, or Beam. Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Druid, Pinot, Timescale, etc.). Experience with data exploration tools such as Grafana, Jupyter Notebooks, Metabase, or PowerBI. Knowledge of DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, version control, testing frameworks, and monitoring systems. Why Join Us
