On behalf of VetJobs/MilitarySpouseJobs, Kratos Microwave, Inc., a Kratos' company, is looking for a Buyer/Planner to work onsite at their San Jose location. This position is open to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard Members, Military Spouses and Caregivers of War Wounded. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. General Job Summary: Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases. Obtains materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (e.g., Just in Time purchases, EOQ). Resolves material discrepancies. Creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other Enterprise wide systems. Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and minimized. Gathers quotations, examines bids, negotiates and awards goods and services. Prepare procurement justification packages and procurement cost analysis. Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. This position requires the ability to obtain security clearance, if needed.
Responsibilities
Plans and allocates materials to meet internal and external requirements Schedules and coordinates the flow of work in manufacturing Generate and release work orders to the shop floor according to the production build plan Monitors work orders to ensure on time completion Negotiates pricing, delivery, and terms and conditions Manages supplier base Develops professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues Determines a course of action based on guidelines and modifies processes and methods as required Works on problems of moderate scope with varied factors Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action Applies learned techniques and contributes to analysis and investigation to solve problems Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, with general instructions on new assignments Builds productive internal/external working relationships to resolve mutual problems Focuses on providing standard professional advice and creating initial reports/analyzes for review by experienced team professionals Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education And Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; or equivalent work experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others and following company policies Willingness and ability to learn and utilize company technology for required purposes Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions Ability to work in a fast paced environment Ability to obtain Security Clearance, if needed
