This role is focused on environmental stewardship, employee well-being, and operational excellence within the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) function. About The Role
The Senior Global EHS Director is a senior-level position leading the development and implementation of strategies to ensure environmental protection, a safe working environment, facility safety, and employee health protection. The role requires strategic vision and hands-on implementation to build world-class EHS performance, working with functions, facilities and geographies to sustain EHS programs, policies and procedures that deliver high performance. The position oversees EHS performance at over 20 manufacturing sites and more than 120 commercial locations, with a workforce of ~60,000, supported by a network of ~200 EHS and Occupational Health professionals. Your Responsibilities Include
Strategic Leadership:
Partner with senior leadership to align EHS strategies with business needs; communicate EHS challenges upwards; provide visible leadership across regions; foster trust, integrity and clear communication within the EHS community. Strategy And AOP:
Develop a Global EHS strategy aligned to business needs; cascade strategy to all levels; create processes for local EHS issues to be included in global planning; secure senior leadership buy-in for the EHS strategy; anticipate challenges 5–10 years out and build protective strategies. EHS Operational Excellence:
Ensure compliance to Global EHS policy; certify locations to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; develop and deploy Global Standards for key EHS programs; manage EHS digital platforms for global connectivity and real-time performance; apply risk analysis and mitigation for operational areas including Global Supply Chain, Commercial activities and Acquisitions & Integrations. Compliance Assurance:
Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements; monitor pending EHS regulations and respond proactively; represent the company in relevant trade associations and industry groups. Occupational Health:
Oversee Global Occupational Health services, medical accommodations, return-to-work and employee wellness; ensure availability of health support globally and upskill Occupational Health Nurses as needed. Performance:
Establish EHS performance targets; track and report progress; recognize positive performance and foster a culture of delivering EHS goals across functions. Acquisitions And Integrations:
Provide EHS support to M&A due diligence, gap assessments, integration planning and resourcing; facilitate alignment with new company culture and requirements. What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or an engineering discipline. 10+ years of EH&S experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures. 5+ years of people leadership experience, with ability to coach and develop direct reports and drive practices across the organization. Experience managing activities and budgets across functions, divisions, product groups, projects/programs, or operations. Proven ability to collaborate with global partners and build inclusive partnerships across cultures and regions. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at the executive level. Self-starter with a high degree of autonomy. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to Boston Scientific locations. Preferred Qualifications
