Overview
Looking for a talented and experienced Senior Buyer with a proven track record of successful negotiation and procurement of components for complex electro-mechanical assemblies used in Defense and Aerospace industry. The Senior Buyer applies specialized knowledge to a variety of procurement tasks, including pricing, supplier negotiations, and reviewing terms and contracts to secure the highest quality products at optimal value. This role is responsible for executing complex purchasing activities while ensuring that all procurement procedures comply with applicable government regulations, laws, and organizational objectives. Responsibilities
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers; communicate common supplier problems with Leadership. Work with Engineering and Quality to obtain product and contract flow downs for quoting and purchasing. Obtain quotes from suppliers for production material and outside processing operations. Select best quote based on supplier quality, lead time, and cost. Create Purchase Orders (POs) in the MRP system and route for approval. Send approved POs to the selected Supplier. Monitor open POs for status and projected on-time delivery. Communicate priorities and schedule changes to suppliers as needed to support changes in production requirements. Share best practices across the group and mentor less experienced team members. Assess inventory level and achieve goals of maintaining minimum level of key production components. Review Supplier Ratings with the Quality team and provide input on OTD & Quality Ratings. Negotiate blanket purchase orders and pursue cost reduction initiatives that eliminate adverse Purchase Price Index (PPI). Interact with sourcing teams to ensure best practices and greatest leverage in procurement, low-cost region sourcing, supplier assessment & management. Publish or review daily shortage report to communicate current delivery information from suppliers. Participate in company and department Process Improvement activities. Work with the Finance department to resolve invoice discrepancies on a timely basis. Minimize production impact by working with Quality to address supplier related NCMRs in a timely manner. Work closely with Suppliers and ESI Quality Engineers to resolve Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs). Any other task assigned by supervisor or management. Qualifications/Skills
Experience in sourcing electronic commodities including PCB’s, PCBA’s, and machine parts is preferred Proficiency with MRP/ERP, MS Office applications, ASANA, Teams and other platforms. Must have a good understanding & prior Experience in Aerospace / Defense industry purchasing practices Experience working in ISO9001 / AS9100 environment. Strong negotiation and supplier development skills Ability to manage a small team of buyers, conduct training, perform yearly performance reviews. Ability to coordinate materials and production schedules with multiple teams, solve urgent problems associated with the manufacture of products and document and communicate production outcomes and trends. Excellent oral and written English skills. Requires well-developed skill in communicating with internal and external customers. U.S. person Education
Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
