The Principal Associate level, Airport Lounge Design Manager is part of the Airport Design & Construction Team, primarily responsible for the design, documentation, and implementation of new and renovated airport lounges. This role leads the design management of airport lounge projects, including innovative hospitality concepts, experiences and branded environments driving execution and timelines. This is a highly collaborative position requiring coordination with internal stakeholders, including Business Development, Guest Experience, and Project Delivery teams. You will join a dynamic, skilled, and forward-thinking team that you will complement and challenge.
Key Responsibilities
Design and management of Airport Lounge business development opportunities, including ownership of the initial design phase, collaboration and management of outside design and technical firms, and management of the Request for Proposal Qualifications (RFP) process
Lead design pipeline for assigned projects by managing the design phase, architectural partners, and external consultants to achieve company goals; manage projects from feasibility and site assessment through Opening, including layout and concept lock, CD creation and review, permitting, construction administration, punchlist, and opening activities; ensure development timelines and budgets are met
Drive cross-functional projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate/escalate as needed
Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills essential for interacting with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
Prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
Leverage problem-solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation
Conduct regular meetings with the project team and document progress; report status to stakeholders
Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to drive project delivery
Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
Candidate Profile
Ability to confidently and clearly communicate design ideas to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
Understanding of construction means, methods, costs, and milestones
Proficiency in construction drawing, documentation, and oversight
Experience in construction administration and on-site project delivery
Experience working on corporate and/or client-facing projects
Experience managing large-scale, cross-departmental projects with direct business impact
A strong portfolio of sketches and finished projects
Travel This role will require 20-30% travel.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design
At least 5 years of interior design or architecture experience within the hospitality industry
At least 5 years of experience with AutoCAD & Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, Illustrator)
At least 3 years of experience in vendor management or relationship management
At least 3 years of experience sourcing architectural materials, finishes, and furniture, fixtures and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
NCIDQ or AIA certification
3+ years of experience managing all phases of interior design from concept through construction administration
