— Location: Stamford, CT | Hybrid (3-4 days/week in-office)

Shelter Growth Capital Partners (SGCP) is a real estate credit investment manager focused on building and managing diversified portfolios of commercial and residential loan and security assets. We manage approximately $3 billion in AUM across private funds and separately managed accounts. Founded in 2015, SGCP has originated or acquired over $18 billion of real estate loans to date. The firm operates with 47 professionals in Stamford and 150 employees nationwide through our affiliated direct lending platform. We’re looking for a

Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Mortgage Underwriter

with 2–4 years of experience to join our small team of real estate professionals that have worked together for nearly a decade. You’ll be underwriting bridge loans across all commercial real estate asset classes while working closely with originators, credit, and asset management, in addition to SGCP’s founders.

What You’ll Do

Provide analytical support in the screening, sizing, structuring, underwriting, and closing commercial real estate loans (senior mortgages, mezzanine, and preferred equity)

Work closely with senior originators in the preparation and presentation of screening and credit committee memorandums

Review borrower / sponsor experience, financial statements and REO schedules

Conduct market due diligence to analyze and summarize key supply/demand metrics, historic market performance and projections

Identify and summarize rent and sales comparables obtained from sales and leasing brokers, and third-party databases

Review rent rolls, leases, CAM reconciliations, loan documents and third-party reports

Perform cash flow modeling, valuation and risk analysis across CRE property types, with a heavy focus on multifamily and industrial assets

Perform site inspections with senior originators

Assist with the preparation of settlement statements

Communicate with mortgage brokers, borrowers, lender’s counsel, and third-party report vendors

Communicate and respond to information requests from investors and joint venture clients

Assist CRE Head of Asset Management with post-closing portfolio management, including asset reporting, warehouse financing, securitization, and workouts

What We’re Looking For

2–4 years’ experience in CRE underwriting, credit analysis, or lending

Strong grasp of financial modeling and loan underwriting metrics

Strong Excel skills (Argus a plus)

Strong communication and writing skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or related field
