Overview
The University of Missouri (MU) Department of Family & Community Medicine in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the inpatient medicine team. This provider will work alongside Attending Family Medicine Physicians, Family Medicine Residents, and a multidisciplinary care team at our 390-bed flagship University Hospital location. This position is dual posted with Job ID 57510 and only one candidate will be hired. Practice Highlights
Join an established team of Advanced Practice Clinicians, Attending Physicians, Residents, and Pharmacists to care for adult non-pregnant inpatients. Collaborate with an experienced team of inpatient-focused Family Medicine Attending Physicians under indirect supervision. Attendings are on-site seeing inpatients with the resident physician teams. Average daily census of 6-10 patients per provider. No required night or weekend responsibilities. Responsibilities
Performs admissions and discharges for patients including appropriate assessment, orders, and documentation. Performs and documents daily assessment, physical examination, and plan of care for admitted patients. Counsels patients and families regarding care plan and post-discharge plan. Performs additional physical assessments of patients\' conditions and needs as clinically indicated. Recognizes, critically assesses, and treats any changes in patients\' condition. Participates in daily multi-disciplinary rounds with Pharmacist, Social Worker, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Dietician. Orders appropriate medications, therapies, labs, and diagnostic tests under the supervision of the attending physician. Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health using established protocols. Additional Responsibilities
Participates in quality improvement projects. Represents the inpatient service leadership on committees or in ad-hoc meetings. Onboarding training for new hires may include working under direct attending physician supervision for a period of time depending on level of experience. Opportunities for voluntary extra weekend shifts for additional compensation based on inpatient census. Shift
4 weekdays per week (10 hour shifts). Flexibility is available when needed. Minimum Qualifications
Physician Assistant licensure by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts. Preferred Qualifications
2-4 years of inpatient medicine experience. Compensation and Title
