Forensic
practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. Responsibilities
Conduct field surveys of existing infrastructure, documenting conditions of gravity and lateral systems. Prepare and present demolition drawings to contractors and crew. Develop crane and rigging plans for the removal of structural components. Perform engineering calculations for the safe felling (collapse) of structures. Work on site with the contractor to assess changing field conditions and its impact on demolition plans. Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations. Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications. Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations. Perform the required mechanical calculations, designs, and equipment selections for a broad range of project types. Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating. Requirements
Master’s degree in structural engineering or related field preferred. Professional Engineer and/or SE License preferred. 3+ years of experience in structural engineering Ability and willingness to travel locally, nationally, and internationally, spending multiple weeks at a time in the field. Familiarity with crane and rigging is preferred Proficient in AutoCAD, experience with Revit a plus. Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $92,000 - $120,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to applicable pay transparency laws. Actual pay rates may vary by location and other factors. Benefits
