Epic EMR – Proficiency and recent usage required Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree Certified Pathology Assistant (PA) 2+ years of relevant pathology experience Recent Epic EMR usage (must demonstrate proficiency) Able to perform
complex grossing
of tissue specimens and
frozen sections Must attend orientation on assigned start date (no flexibility) Key Responsibilities:
Specimen Processing: Perform gross examination of surgical, biopsy, and cytology specimens
Includes dictation, dissection, tissue sectioning for microscopic analysis
Conduct intraoperative consultations, including frozen sections Accurately accession and label specimens; photograph as required Assist in autopsies and maintain accurate, legible documentation Training & Collaboration: Train pathology technicians and histotechnologists in surgical and grossing techniques Develop and track training programs Work cross-functionally with IT, nursing, ancillary services, and physicians Pathology Information System Oversight: Manage and train staff on pathology and diagnostic systems Collaborate on system integration, maintenance, and upgrades Ensure compliance with regulatory and QA/QC standards Maintain digital pathology tools including slide scanning and remote viewing systems Quality & Improvement Initiatives: Participate in QA/QC audits, Tumor Board meetings, and Pathology Department goals Contribute to continuous improvement projects and diagnostic accuracy Help design workflows with a focus on patient safety Additional Notes:
Must reside within a 100-mile radius of the facility Must commit to required training and orientation schedules No special scheduling accommodations (i.e., no blocked days or extended RTO beyond 5 days)
