Job Overview: The Telemetry Unit is a 38-bed unit. This team-oriented unit provides a wide variety of Medical/Surgical and diagnostic services to a diverse cardiac population (i.e., congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, respiratory compromise and dysrhythmias). The nursing assistant is an integral part of the nursing team providing direct patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma BLS Certification through American Heart Association only Ability to perform all competencies of the position Preferred: Completion of a nursing fundamentals course in an accredited School of Nursing or Certified Nursing Assistant Certifications and Licenses: BLS certification through American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements: Nights 11:00PM - 7:30AM Full-Time (40 hrs) Mandatory Orientation Essential Functions: Promotes and implements in conjunction with RN the concept of patient and family-centered care Observes and reports patient's responses to intervention/treatments Prepare the patient environment for admission or transfer from another area of hospital Greet and escorts newly admitted patients and families to patient room and orients to surroundings Assures that all patients have appropriate identification bands on at all times Prepares patient for meals, assists in feeding and/or feeds patient and reports food intake to RN Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
