Unit Overview GW Hospitals Emergency Department is a verified Level I Trauma Center, offering advanced care for critically injured patients from Washington, D.C., and the surrounding region. The trauma program includes multiple trauma bays, a trauma team activation process, and immediate access to ORs, CT imaging, and blood products. The trauma team manages over 1,800 trauma activations annually, with a focus on rapid evaluation, resuscitation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Trauma Nurse Specialists play an integral role in ensuring readiness, coordination, and expert bedside care throughout trauma activations. Position Summary The Trauma Nurse Specialist is a leadership-level RN responsible for delivering high-acuity trauma care, assisting with trauma activations, mentoring ED staff, and supporting performance improvement initiatives related to the trauma program.

Qualifications

Required: RN license in DC (or eligible) BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications 2+ years of ED or critical care experience, with 1+ year in trauma care Preferred: BSN preferred CEN, TCRN, or ATCN certification Experience in a Level I or II trauma center Preceptor or educator experience About GW Hospital
